Pain

"Life can be painful if you do it right. Anyone brave enough to love another person, anyone who loves enough to take onto herself another person's pain and fear, anyone compassionate enough to feel the pain of all that is wrong with our world, learns how challenging life can be. Sometimes the heart that opens itself to love becomes so overwhelmed with the feelings to which it has made itself vulnerable that it breaks."

I have been reading your blog with much interest these past few months, as I am from New Orleans, mother of 2 children under 3 years old.

I, too, feel I could die some days under those flourescent lights, breathing in the stale air of an interior office without windows, and away from my beloved husband and littles ones.

We left New Orleans because we could not afford to live there - we could not afford housing or daycare. We moved to another state, and we still cannot afford a house and daycare.

The corporate work ethic, the 8-5, the low pay...it really adds insult to injury.

But, we cannot give up. Not for the little ones...not for ourselves. I believe things will get better.

Keep your chin up.
